MY STORY

I’m Hannah Bjorkman Stauber, and my journey has been anything but ordinary. Born in 1977, I stepped into a life as a child bride in 1991 within a well-known polygamous community. With just an eighth-grade education, I faced the daunting challenge of leaving that life behind. In 2012, as a single mother of four, I took the courageous leap to pursue a new path in nursing—a decision that would transform my life and the lives of my children.

My educational journey has been a testament to resilience. I earned my GED and went on to achieve an Associate of Science in Nursing with honors from Eagle Gate College in 2014, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University in 2016. In May 2021, I proudly became a Family Nurse Practitioner, completing my Master of Science in Nursing at American Sentinel University—an incredible feat achieved within just nine years of leaving the polygamous lifestyle.

With twelve years of medical experience under my belt, I began my career in a psychiatric hospital, and my journey has since spanned various fields, including mental health, acute rehab, women’s health, labor and delivery, and hospice nursing. Today, I specialize in holistic family practice medicine, focusing on hormones, weight loss, and functional medicine, while also holding certifications in Basic Life Support, Vestibular Rehab, and Concussion Therapy.

Beyond my medical career, I am passionate about empowering women and advocating for their growth and independence. As a public speaker, I share my story to inspire others to tap into their inner strength and transform their lives. I also mentor and consult, guiding individuals on their journeys toward authenticity and joy.

I believe in the importance of self-care and find joy in hobbies that keep my spirit alive. I’ve run full and half marathons, enjoyed Ragnars, and love traveling with my family. Outdoor adventures—like paddle boarding, camping, yoga, and dancing—nourish my soul. Writing and meditating help me stay grounded, while activities like pickleball keep me active. I’ve learned that to live joyfully, we must nurture our inner child through play and discovery.

As I continue to serve my community, I am honored to inspire others through both my professional work and personal journey. My upcoming book, Give Yourself Permission: Overcoming Female Oppression, encapsulates these experiences, aiming to empower women everywhere to break free from limitations and embrace their courage.
